Giving without expectations requires you to believe and trust in the very act of giving – believing that giving is rewarding on its own – that it is already a blessing to give – that giving is something you are doing for yourself.

Altruism – the selfless concern for the well-being of others – is advisable for so many reasons. But thinking people will reciprocate your kindness if you are nice to them is just naive. I know, because I’ve been “Mr. Nice Guy” before.
Stories are powerful because they inspire people to think and act, since, it doesn’t only appeal to their logic, but emotions as well.
There is a strong temptation to be ungrateful to society due to its imperfection, but we must exercise gratitude because society lays the foundation for the order (law, commerce, democracy, etcetera) and whatever privileges we enjoy (including access to clean water, the internet, education, and even the “peace” we enjoy).
